About Me

My name is DuChomp, I’m a part-time game developer and a full-time clown. I’m from Massachusetts and went to [expensive] art school, so sorry in advance for my loud personality (and lousy driving) I make stuff in the independent scene, getting my hands on all elements in the project with a small team of just as passionate peers. I’ve released prototypes, small games, even mods, and have more projects on the horizons that I can’t wait to share!

Pronouns: He/Him

Behind the Dino

My avatar is a comedian dinosaur named "DuChomp," here's a little bit about how I got there!

The "C" Era

I first came up with the character "DuChomp" back in 2016 at art school when I accidentally said the artist's name, Marcel DuChamp, as "Doo-Champ" and was ridiculed for my peanut brain. It was a little play on words but I imagined an alligator artist who sold art from the sewers of New York, going under the name of "DuChomp" and made a Twitter account with that handle where I exclusively posted random stuff I made. The design was supposed to resemble the letter "C" to emphasize the CHOMP in DuChomp since the name has a capital in the middle of it (thanks French) I didn't do much besides loiter in Twitch chats and make some fan art for some of my favorite creators at the time. I was into 3D modelling at the time and wanted some sort of brand recognition, so I decided to have the 3D version as my avatar for some time. I didn't actually do much with the account until 2020 when I was bored like everyone else and decided to start streaming, and have been doing it ever since booting up Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge.

The PNGtubing Era

On September 29th 2021, I came home from a long day at the Long Day Factory and realized how close I was to stream time (I used to be very punctual for time lol) I didn't have time for a shower or to clean my setup or really much at all. Webcam wasn't really neccessary for me, but I'm quite an expressive person so I felt something needed to fill that element about me on screen. On a quick search, I looked up "how hard is it to set up a VTuber" which I got met with hours long of tutorials on how to make myself into a small fragile anime girl which I personally didn't think fit my personality. I then looked up how easy it was to set up a PNGtuber, and found the awesome program Veadotube and remembered I had a degree for drawing little pictures and after 15 minutes, the new era was made.

The Strxxbi Redesign

One day, my old schoolmate (and friend, I guess) Strxxbi made this image of themself, MickeyMissed, and I in their style. Since they have been blessed by artistic angels, the design was adorable and I had realized "I don't actually know what the full body of this guy looks like..." so since this image, I have taken this as the biblically accurate image of the character.

The Comedian Era

Using Strxxbi's full body illustration, I wanted to redesign the character in a way less ambiguous than the "C" shape. I had a charity event coming up, and wanted to do something special, so I redesigned my entire setup to be themed around a stand-up comedy stage since streaming was basically the same thing. I played around with the proportions a bit: making him stubbier with shorter arms, beadier eye, and the red bowtie so he wasn't as naked. At this point, everyone was saying I looked like a dinosaur rather than an alligator, so I just went with that as the official species. I also decided to stay with PNGtubing since VTuber trackers required you to sit still and I move WAAAY too much for it to be accurate. This allowed for a flatter design only seen from 1 perspective. On September 2nd, 2022 I debuted my new model for the End Cancer Disparities charity event hosted Players vs. Cancer (and raised over $1,000!)

The Current Design

After a while, I noticed the way I designed my Twitch emotes wasn't very similar to my actual PNGtuber model; I made him a darker green with a bigger eye, similar to the original Strxxbi design. Strxxbi then made an official character sheet influenced by the comedian design and made key features like a color key and fleshed out the proportions.

And now you're all caught up!!
